BACKGROUND
The Advanced Residency Program in Photograph Conservation, hosted by George Eastman House and the Image Permanence Institute at the Rochester Institute of Technology, offered fellowships to a select group of early- to mid-career conservators to come to Rochester, New York, to specialize in photograph conservation over a two-year period. The program began in September 1999 to address the particularly urgent need for advanced education and training opportunities in photograph conservation, a field that is relatively young. The program concluded in August 2009.
The program is primarily funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Additional funding has been provided by the J. Paul Getty Grant Program.
